Fritz Englund, the Swedish master it's named for, believed in 1...e5 against 1.d4 enough to sponsor an entire themed tournament for it in 1932. Masters consider it dubious; blitz players know better — its trap (…Qb4+ winning the b2 bishop's defender) still catches thousands of players every day.
